CARES Act/Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund

CARES Act/Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund - Student Aid:

Updated 6/4/2024

The CARES Act Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund-IHE/Student Aid provides funding to institutions to provide emergency financial aid grants to students whose lives have been disrupted, many of whom are facing financial challenges and struggling to make ends meet.

Louisburg College has signed and returned to the Treasury Department the Certification and Agreement along with the assurance that the institution has used, or intends to use, the applicable amount of funds designated under the CRRSAA and ARP (a)(1) and (a)(4) programs to provide Emergency Financial Aid Grants to Students.

We will receive or have received $3,172,333 from the Treasury Department according to the institution’s Certification and Agreement for Emergency Financial Aid Grants to Students. There were approximately 535 Louisburg College students eligible to receive funds.

As of June 2024we have distributed $3,172,333 of the Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students under the CRRSAA and ARP (a)(1) and (a)(4); as of the date of submission, 1,856 Emergency Financial Aid Grants have been distributed.

To receive funds from the CRRSAA and ARP programs Louisburg College must have enrolled the students at, on, or after March 13, 2020. The award was formula-based using EFC need and awarded institutional aid. The college used the system to determine the amount of Emergency Financial Aid Grants under the CRRSAA and ARP (a)(1) and (a)(4) programs. Louisburg College also retained a portion of the aid to award students in emergency circumstances.
